Austria - Riverdiving at Winter...

Last weekend we went to the wonderful river "Die Traun" in upper Austria. With winter temperatures of 6 degree in the water and 4 degree outside we stayed almost two hours in the water. My new 8 mil Elios suit was just perfect and warm until the end. Misha our Ukraine freediver even don`t needed a suit for a short diving session :)

Germany - Düsseldorf Die Boot

Hey at all, we were at the fare "Die Boot" in Düsseldorf. Most of you should know the water sports trade fare. Alot to see for all who like boats and watersports at all. This year was really simular to last time but some extensions at the underwater photography area. Some ehibitions and modern companys like gopro to find there. I met BS Kinetics there and colleted some news all around underwater photography.

Austria - New Years Dive, at the lake...

We found some time for a lake day at New Year. Arrived at the "Attersee" we were rewarded by wonderful weather and warm temperatures on the surface. The water was cold as usual but one degree warmer then normally ;) Could stay there for about 40 minutes at 5 degrees water temperature. The visability was not that good this time but still about 10 meters. The day was just perfect take a look at the 360° panno for a real feeling like there...

Hello my friends! Today we tried to find a good place for a shooting. Its not that easy at autumn because around the lakes there is often fog or the sun is behind the montains. Anyway, after some driving around the lakes we found a good place with sun at "Mondsee" east side.

Austria - Weissenbach Gumpen...

Here some informations about a cold (freediving) day in Austria. Today we went to the Weissenbach and it was the first time for me to test the Nikon with the BS Kinetics housing and a strobe. It was good but I have to go a few times more, to get a feeling for the camera. The Water temperature had to have about 4° because we found ice at the surface. After one and a half hour I could not feel my feet. Next time I definetly will change my 3 mil neopren socks to something different . Tomorrow we try to get some good shots around the Attersee. Hopefully we have sun!

Austria - autumnal sunset...

Today I tested my new BS Kinetics housing the first time. First I wanted to go to the Attersee (lake) but the weather was not the best. No sun, more cloudy and rainy, but a couple of hours ago, just before sunset the sun came out. So I packed all my stuff and went out to a spot close to my home. It was already to dark for uw shots but still it was great! Here just one of the pics. The DSRL system gives me new opportunities and will increase the wide angle image quality a lot! Hey together! It was a little bit quiet the last month about SunandDive.com. But now I have alot of news to tell you. I went back to my job as a IT system engineer, so I had not that much time like before. Anyway from now, (next weekend) I start again to go a lot into the water to take great shots! You know I won this cool camera the Nikon D7000 in September at the Nikon UW Photodays...

I am very happy to tell you about a new photography success. Last weekend I participated an underwater photography competition in Austria. The "Salzkammergut UW Trophy" >website<. It was a freshwater live-shootout for scuba and freediving photographer. Prices over 25000 Euro to give away from sponsors like Mares, Nikon, and lot`s of more well known companys was a big incentive for the participants to shoot good pictures. Many Photographer from five nations, Austria, Croatia, Germany, Italy and Switzerland joined this fantastic event...

The pictures of our last freediving trip to the "Gruener See" (green lake) in Austria are online. It was the first time for me on this special lake, where you can't go every time. Its a meltwater lake, crystal clear and freezing cold between 6 and 8 degrees. The conditions for photography would be there fantastic but we didn`t got a sunny day, may be next time...

I got some good news some days ago from pfmagazine.com about the 32nd ANNUAL SPRING PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST. One of my pictures is in the finalist group. As such, it will be published in the book Best of Photography 2012. The book is sold to photographers, college libraries and instructors of photography, art and graphic design.
Update, the results are offical, the picture was in the final round but no ranking on the first places...
